Deep Dish Dungeon Roots: Axe and Progression Tips
Use an Axe on roots in the full game. Player posts confirm the tool; the route to it is less precisely documented.

Before looking for another weapon
An October 14 Steam player reported finding the Axe and using it to break roots. A separate Corn Gem route also describes clearing roots with that tool. Those two reports support the tool choice; they do not establish a complete step-by-step route to the first Axe.
Landmarks to revisit
The first player describes progressing beyond the spider prison into the sewers, passing slime and using the grappling hook to reach high cranks that lower water. Another participant reported that an overlooked high crank was the missing step for them.
Use this as a search checklist rather than exact navigation:
- Revisit the sewer section after the spider prison.
- Look above your normal eye line for a reachable crank.
- Check what changes after lowering water before repeating an unchanged route.
The original poster was recalling the route from memory. We have not verified coordinates or a continuous walkthrough to the Axe, so this page does not invent either.
Check the game version
In a June 13 demo-era reply, a developer said the Axe, pickaxe and Clay were absent from that demo. That historical limitation does not describe the October full game. See the demo distinction if an old answer says roots cannot be cleared.
