Check behind you
An October 15 Steam answer describes the repair point from a clear landmark: stand facing the door operated by weights, turn around and look down for the broken lever. The player says to add iron there.
Another participant mentions needing Chain for the two-weight mechanism. Inspect both the floor repair and the mechanism itself; a repaired lever should not be treated as proof that every other part is already supplied.
Budget before crafting
A separate Iron Rod discussion advises reserving one rod for a progression lever. That is consistent with checking the repair before using all your rods on camp equipment, but it is not a measured recipe for every mechanism in this room.
For planning, the selected secondary crafting data lists Chains at a Workbench with a cost of two Iron Rods. The material planner can include that direct cost. It cannot tell whether your save has unlocked the recipe or how many other mechanisms remain unfinished.
Scope of this answer
These player reports identify an overlooked interaction and a material requirement. They do not supply a fully checked prison walkthrough, a Chain pickup coordinate or a guaranteed fix for every blocked door. If your obstacle is a rusty fence instead, use the tool finder to distinguish it from this mechanism.
