Silver Pines Steam Deck: Test the DirectX 11 Option

Hotfix 1 added a DirectX 11 launch choice specifically to help performance, including on Steam Deck. Compare it with your normal launch path before changing several settings at once.

Start with the supported troubleshooting step

The October 9 Hotfix 1 announcement recommends trying the new DirectX 11 launch option when performance is poor, especially on Steam Deck. This is the developer's suggestion, not a performance measurement from our own hardware.

Compare one scene fairly

Our suggested comparison avoids changing the test halfway through:

1. Note your game version, usual launch choice and current settings.
2. Select a scene where the problem can be reproduced without consuming important resources.
3. Relaunch using the DirectX 11 option exposed by the game or its launcher.
4. Repeat the same route and compare the same symptom: stutter, responsiveness or another specific problem.
5. Record the result before making another change.

Do not confuse “this option improved my test” with a guaranteed fix for every scene. We have not measured FPS, battery life or an optimal graphics preset, so none is invented here. Nor does this page prescribe an undocumented launch argument to force the option when your installed interface differs.

Performance or blocked progression?

A running game with an unresponsive quest object is a different symptom from poor frame pacing. If the issue concerns a ladder, elevator or boss that will not advance, use the softlock checklist and compare the exact build with the relevant patch note.

When reporting performance, include the device, build, launch choice, scene and comparison result. That preserves what the official troubleshooting suggestion actually changed.
