Chained Beasts Co-op: Players, Controllers and Teamwork
Chained Beasts supports one to four players, online and same-screen co-op. The Steam requirements specify at least one gamepad for same-screen play; confirm your exact cross-platform pairing.

Choose the session type first
Use the store's one-to-four-player limit, meaning four people total. One launch-announcement sentence says “up to 4 friends”, but the same announcement also describes a group of four; we do not interpret that wording as confirmation of five-player sessions.

Agree on movement language
The store explains that chains can tangle around obstacles or trip enemies. Older first-hand playtest replies also report using trips offensively. Those reports are corroborating history, not verified launch-build timings.
Our recommendation is to agree on one retreat direction and one short regroup call. When movement becomes awkward, stop pulling in opposite directions long enough to identify the obstacle and each player's position. Recheck that plan after a camera- or movement-changing affliction.
No network-port prescription, dedicated-server feature or universal console invitation method is established by these sources. For missing multiplayer achievements, compare the launch hotfix before assuming only a host is meant to earn them.
